Rules Designee

The rules, strategy, and police designee oversees the FRC team manual, and when there are discrepancies, the designee is called forth to settle any disputes within the group. Also, if there are any potential questions and/or comments about the rules of the game, then the designee will ensure that every rule is followed exactly. In addition to just the rules in the FRC team manual, the designee also goes around and clarifies any questions not directly stated in the rule book and monitors updates from the US FIRST websites as well as many others.
The rules designee will be the most knowledgeable member concerning the rules, strategy, and policy of each year’s game. The designee will finally also inform other team members of any potential changes or hazards that need caution during the build and/or competition. The FRC team relies on the designee for any additional information that may pertain to the competition.

Drivers

Any team member is eligible to become a driver. The driver group includes two drivers, the coach and a human player or robo-coach. Members can sign up for being a driver at the beginning of the season. Tryouts will be held for becoming a member of the driver subgroup during the second half of the build season or off season. The team captain and build division lead will make the final decision when selecting drivers. The member who shows consistent mastery in being able to drive the robot will be selected as the robot driver. The member who shows consistent mastery of operating the manipulator will be given the role of manipulator operator. The member who shows the strongest ability of being a coach will be the coach at the competition. Finally, the member who displays an aptitude for driving or coaching but is not as good as the ones selected will be given the position of human player/robo-coach. The member selected as robo-coach/human player is the first alternate for assuming a driver position. Secondary alternates will be chosen based on the skill shown during tryouts.
