We do not have a complete stylebook for this website, but there are some important guidelines to follow when writing on this site.

The primary rule is to remember that this website can be seen by anyone – and will be seen by sponsors, parents, and mentors. Anything that is private should remain on the Groups, or be restricted to viewing by only team members. Remember that anyone can make an account, so the Registered access level does not guarantee perfect privacy.

In addition, remember to use the correct titles for team leaders. The senior leaders (not an official term, so don’t use it in your articles) are the Team Captain, Build Division Lead, and Business Division Lead. Subgroup managers should be referred to like so: Chassis Subgroup Manager. Do not replace or switch the words captain, subgroup, manager.

Use the editors wisely. Make sure you use TinyMCE (select it in “Your Details”) but be careful with the paragraph spacing and formatting. Most importantly, watch out for formatting that breaks the layout after you publish an article; be sure to remove it if you find any. TinyMCE shows up as three rows of tools whenever you’re editing an article. It’s ridiculously powerful, so learn the tools and use them. Notably, there’s a remove formatting tool that is invaluable; also make sure you learn to use basic formatting and paragraph styles.

For most headings, use the Paragraph Box. Note that Heading 1 is slightly larger than the title font, and Heading 4 is just slightly larger than the paragraph font. Also, the heading text sometimes appears in color when published even though it appears in gray in the editor. For most purposes, use Heading 4. There may also be times when it is appropriate to use simply bolded text.

Stick to the default fonts and default font sizes wherever possible. Be especially careful with tables, images, and other embedded objects: they can break an article or page easily.

Finally, remember to proofread your articles for spelling/grammar and readability.

This article is open to editing, so if you find any necessary additions please add them above.
